The Dreaded Essays....
Most of the year you will spend time working on DBQ's which stands for Document based questioned. Sounds hard but honestly it's the easiest of the 3 essays because you don't really have to know anything. Brock will give you plenty of DBQ's throughout the year so just be ready for them! You will follow the Guatemala rubric. It will basically be your life when writing the DBQ. It will also be the first essay question on the exam. The next essay on the exam is the CCOT. CCOT stands for Changes and Continuities over time. Its pretty simple. Due to the many snow days we had this year we didn't have time to write very many but we wrote enough of them to be prepared for the exam. For this essay you actually have to know stuff, so you better pay attention and study. You will get another rubric for this essay and you WILL follow it like your life depended on it. The next and last essay on the exam is the CC, which stands for Cultural Comparison. You have to know stuff for this essay too. We wrote more CC's then CCOT's so we were pretty prepared. Again you will have a rubric for this essay and follow it like your life depends on it. All essays are scored from 0-7 but you can get expanded core points. That means you can get up to a nine. You have plenty of time on the exam for all 3 essays. Don't stress and do your best.
